Wine Country's highly acclaimed
Zazu Restaurant + Farm announces the arrival of "
Zazu on the River" at the
Davis Family Vineyards property right on the Russian River. Now Healdsburg locals, visitors and wine enthusiasts can enjoy
Zazu Restaurant + Farm's renowned "just picked" food and award-winning Davis Family wines together at
52 Front Street in Healdsburg.
With outdoor seating amidst the organic garden where many of the restaurant's ingredients are grown,
Zazu on the River offers several shaded outdoor rooms with views of the Russian River; a bocce court; and nearby access to the Davis Family Vineyards tasting room.
"
We want to capture the essence of Sonoma County, to show off its proximity to the source of the food, and to give diners a true sense of place," said Duskie Estes, chef and co-owner, who, with her husband John Stewart, were dubbed the "
King and Queen of Pork" at last year's Food & Wine Classic in Aspen. "
Our farmer, Milo Mitchel, has planted over 40 varieties of tomatoes that we will feature in our soon-to-be-world-famous U-PICK B.L.T., made with our pasture-raised bacon."
In addition to eating and enjoying Davis Family wines on site, visitors may purchase Davis Family wines in the tasting room and take home packages of
Zazu's signature black pig bacon, about which
Men's Journal gushed, "
Bacon doesn't get better than this."

Estes refers to
Zazu on the River as Sonoma County's first "Pork Shack." The menu also features black pig salumi, maple + bacon popcorn, bacon toffee lollipops, Davis Family Syrah sorbet, and daily sandwiches, salads, and sides.
Zazu Restaurant + Farm, located in west Santa Rosa, is noted for its authentic "farm to table" cuisine, with ingredients produced by John Stewart and Duskie Estes on their own farms and a farm on the Davis Family Vineyards property. Menus are crafted only after the chefs harvest vegetables, and their menus reflect both chefs' tastes: Duskie prefers to riff American Classics – like her "Better Butter", a peanut butter ice cream sandwich with warm Scharffen Berger chocolate fondue for dipping, while John prepares rustic Northern Italian dishes and pastas house-made daily with eggs he gathers from their own chickens.
