Meet Milo Mitchel ... While studying anthropology and sociology at at Lewis and Clark, Milo ran the community garden and worked the college grounds. Upon graduating, Milo moved back to his home town of Sebastopol to start his own company, Milo Mitchel Landscaping. Milo’s passion is being outside. Milo has worked at Emerisa Gardens Nursery, installed the garden designs of Maile Arnold and Jani Weaver, and collaborated with Julian Sanchez. Maile Arnold is Milo’s mentor, teaching him the art of dumpster diving, irrigation installation, fruit tree “espaliering”, chicken raising, and organic farming. He hopes one day to create a nonprofit with his sisters to further sustainable agriculture. Check out his blog @ www.milomitchel.com

ZAZU also grows at MacBryde Farm a few minutes from the restaurant. MacBryde Farm is also home to the ZAZU flock of chickens and turkeys, mangalitsa pigs, babydoll sheep, rabbits, goats and more. The scraps from the bread bowls feed our chickens & turkeys and our kitchen’s vegetable scraps feed the pigs, sheep, rabbits, and goats. The eggs go into john’s handmade pastas.
